Case Study - Fire DamageEmergency service

Residential house fire in a Victorian house in long beach.. 3 story private dwelling with balloon frame construction. According to the fire marshal, the fire occurred due to cigarette in a trash bin on the second floor master bedroom. Fire fully involved in bed room and slight extension behind the walls and attic area. Extensive soot and smoke damage throughout the entire second floor including another bedroom, large hallway and bathroom. Smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the house including on the first floor a kitchen, foyer, dining room ,living room, office, den ,and bath as well as in the finished basement that had a large guest/sewing room full of linens  and oversized walk-in closet, and a laundry/boiler-room that was full of children toys and memorabilia.

Day one
Great American received the call and was at the site within 45 minutes with an emergency service crew including and crew chief and board up crew.  After paper work was completed, the board up was initiated and the emergency service began. Auxiliary power was set up the house and water extraction began on the lower floors. Contents that were not severely damaged were moved to locations to help limit further secondary damages. Gars help assist the home owner in dealing with the stress of the situation and assisted in help find alternate housing.

Day two
The insurance company adjuster and investigator arrive. Gars works with them and gets the secondary work started using the poi system gars works with the adjuster to help mitigate the contents affected by the fire and water damage. Contents are inventoried and moved out to either r be cleaned or thrown out because they are non-salvageable. Drying and dehumidification begins n the lower floors as well as the secondary water removal 
Drying of the wood floors also begins dehumidification behind the walls also begins

Day three
Demolition begins as well as structural cleaning. All of the second floor and attic demoed to the beams and all beams not salvageable were removed and replaced drying and dehumidification continues

Day four
Cleaning and wall washing continues

Day five
All beams and washed with anti microbial detergents to combat mold encapsulating paining occurs

6 days after the initial date of loss the house is ready to be reconstructed. Smooth and steadfast work occurred with out any delays
